Some of the people you do the 20 questions with blow my mind that they have no clue that Alive was the single for the Anthology… You need some more hardcore fans on it. Pootytang, Laver1969, Miramanee, or myself paulb.

Hey Jim, How different is the too many rappers mix..is it better?..slightly better?

“Too Many Rappers” is the backing track in the culminating dance battle. Most of what you hear is instrumental. The song does begin with the “big” drums in the original version, however the production tweak is in the verse portion of the track. The first version of “Too Many Rappers” sounds very organic, like it was recorded on live instruments. The “reactionary” version sounds less organic (almost like the spacey/saucy sounds heard on Hello Nasty). I’m curious why it’s called the “Reactionary Version.” Could it be a reaction to some of the early fan critiques, who said the song felt monotonous? Hmm?

The whole track wasn’t played, so I can’t say if it’s better, but it will be fun to own two versions of this song.

And Paul B., e-mail me at beastiepodcast@gmail.com if you wanna participate in 20 Questions. Don’t be dawgin’ Jen though. She brought some nice energy to The Brouhaha’s airwaves.

Thanks so much Jim! I am glad a huge fan was able to see FFYR so we could get insight from a fans perspective. It’s amazing you got to see the guys again. It’s also damn cool that MCA mentioned he listens to this podcast. I think he watches everything that goes on in the fandom lol.

Great podcast Jim. It’s the third that I’ve listened to and thoroughly enjoyed your commentary on Revisited. A big thank you for including my mix at the beginning of the podcast and more importantly spreading the word about BeastieMixes.com. We have tons of fun over there and S7 does a phenomenal job with the site.

“Make Some Noise” is an instant classic; it doesn’t stray far from the Beastie blueprint (but that’s not necessarily a bad thing).

“Say It” has a nice sinister edge to it. It packs the same swagger as a Beastie tune back when they were wearing suede sneakers and sock-caps.

I’m usually good at taking mental notes like that, but the randomness of it all caught me by surprise. They’re were wearing winter coats–that’s all I can report. Sorry…
