Great story Jim. I was at all 3 shows in New York and was able to take a few photos and a video of the finger. Sorry about the video quality: Watch the finger: Yauch and the Finger:

Great tribute. I’ve been a long time listener and lurker over on the BBS. So good to feel and share all the love with other fans. BBoys are by far the biggest musical influence. Listening to tod there I remember my wife and I were on the way to get pizza when my twitter lit up. Managed to get through night fine. when I got up early saturday morning and started reading all the tributes it was like someone was chopping onions in my office. And now a week later I’m in a much better place, untill I watch an HSCPT1 interview where they started talking about having hard drives to back themselves up in preparation to being the oldest band in the world. what a difference a couple of years make, eh? peace

Thank you so much Jim. It’s been an emotional week for all of us but just hearing these amazing stories and memories about MCA blows my mind! And your finger story is priceless. I would have loved to see that look on all of their faces when they saw that finger! PWR2MCA PWR2BEASTIES and PWR2TheBrouhaha!!

Yo, the song at the end killed me…because i havent had to strength to listen to Yauch’s voice…but yeah nice episode, i listened to every part of the 2 1/2 hours.

im glad i heard about PWR2MCA….. yes that was MY hand posted by Mr. Horovitz himself… i think it was meant to be, a little shoutout from MCA. It kinda proves that im the #1 fan…first fan to ever be posted on the actual fuckin BEASTIE BOYS blog. LOVE Adam Yauch, always and forever.

Hey Jim, Like many beastie fans , thousands of thoughts passed through my mind when i heard the news. One was you and this podcast. I hope you continue the show to keep the beastie’s legacy alive and have on outlet for us fans to pay tribute. The day after Yauchs passing I posted this on my webite. Just wanted to share what the bboys meant to me.

I’m still listening to the podcast. But I can’t help but comment midway. This is a great tribute and you said it best when you said that the music died. I couldn’t put my finger on what I’ve been feeling. I love the beasties so much, its really so surreal. It also hurts that I’ll never get to see them together in concert. I’m late to the game, I’m only 29. I’m such a diehard fan and MCA in particular changed my life with just seeing him grow up through the music. Its so refreshing to hear lyrics like in sure shot and then listen to anything in licensed to ill. I’m not a fan of it at all but its a great reference.

This is seriouly breaking my heart to write. I hope that the kids today will appreciate MCA and not just think of him as some old guy.

Wasn’t at the show, but Fredo is holding my original finger. I gotta say, I’m jealous; that finger got to travel on tour with the Beastie Boys.

Great podcast and guests. However, I’d like to share my views on what you bring up early in the program about boos being delivered when he’d speak about touchy topics at concerts and the like. I don’t think they were booing MCA: they were directing the boos towards whom he was making the comments towards.
